Kula Private Estate Maui Wedding
Callie & Ben are friends, and she's also a fellow florist and I was honored when they asked me to be a part of their wedding. We met for our first planning at Hali’imaile General Store. It was one of the cutest meetings, and I love digging deep into finding out what my couples really want. One thing I always tell them is this "it's your wedding, and we can do WHATEVER we want to do" nothing is off-limits.
I love to give them a free rein to think outside of the traditions of what people think, as you already know, I am not a traditional kind of person!! They were discussing how they didn't want to be the center of attention, but they wanted to say their vows, and Callie figured it might be challenging to do so in front of everyone. So we decided on a "First Look" with no one else present and they could share their vows in private. My focus was to make sure that it was just the two of them. That was essential for them, and to honor their wishes, I asked everyone to respect it. It's not easy to do when all the vendors are close friends. True, it was one of the enchanting moments I've seen and captured by my friend Maddie. Congratulations to Callie & Ben, for they just had a baby a few weeks ago.
As I mentioned, I love doing non-traditional. Callie & Ben had ordered these three metal rings, which they were going to hang separately over the dancefloor and add flowers to it. I've never worked with these before, so it was nice to create something unique with them. We asked Accel Rentals if we could suspend the rings in the shape of a large chandelier by tilting each ring above each other and adding twinkle lights. To top that off, my dear friend, florist extraordinaire, and designer Della of Dellables Floral Design provided all the beautiful flowers.
One thing I've learned from this wedding is to "pay attention" LOL. When they said that Ben's friend "Owen" was officiating, I had no idea that it was Owen Wilson until we rehearsed on the morning of the wedding! They did tell me his full name, but I was in my zone to make sure he had the license and prepared to do the job.....
The ceremony was beautiful with the West Maui Mountains in the background and the sun setting.
Callie is a local vendor which added value to her day with many vendor friends. It was great to see everyone. Their wedding was sweet and fun. Jeanne of Dellables Floral Design created this fantastic dinner, which she catered for us all. She whipped it all together so effortlessly. It was the perfect evening under the stars with good friends.
